Katherine Langford (born April 29, 1996 in Perth , Western Australia ) is an Australian actress .

Life

Langford was born in Perth , Western Australia as the eldest daughter of Elizabeth Langford (nee Green) and Stephen Langford. She has a younger sister, Josephine Langford , who is also an actress.

She spent her school days at the Perth Modern School and achieved success as a swimmer during this time. She studied acting at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney and singing at Perth's Principal Academy of Performing Arts . She took the masterclass at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow . She made her film debut with the short film Daughter , which premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival .

She became known for her role as Hannah Baker in the Netflix series Dead Girls Don't Lie . For this role she was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2018 . In the film adaptation of “Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda “(Eng. Just three words) by Becky Albertalli with the title Love, Simon took on the role of Leah Burke. She could take on the role again in a sequel based on the book Leah on the Offbeat . She played the adult Morgan Stark for the film Avengers: Endgame , but the scene with her was not integrated into the final version of the film.

New projects with her became known at the end of 2018. She plays in Rian Johnson's Knives Out , which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2019. a. in the Variety as a crime comedy and homage to the Whodunits in the style of Agatha Christie , Ruth Rendell or Arthur Conan Doyle was described. In addition, she is said to slip into the role of Nimue , the Lady of the Lake , who brings King Arthur to his sword Excalibur in the television series Cursed by the comic book writer and director Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler . The first season has been on Netflix since July 17, 2020.
