Garrett Donovan and Neil Goldman were hired as showrunners for the series. In October 2012, Fox ordered six more episodes from the series.

Abby Elliott was first engaged in the female lead that same month , but she left the project in March because she felt she was too young for the role. Shortly after Elliott left the series, she was replaced by Dakota Johnson . At the end of February, the central male lead role had already been filled with Nat Faxon .
The series premiered on Fox on September 25, 2012 . On January 23, 2013, Fox took the series out of its program due to the poor audience ratings. On January 25, 2013, Fox officially ceased production of the series. At this point, 16 of the 19 ordered episodes had been shot. The last three completed episodes of the series have not yet aired in the United States , but have been broadcast in the United Kingdom on ITV2 .
