Abigail "Abby" Elliott (born June 16, 1987 in New York City , New York ) is an American actress .

life and career

Born in New York City, Abby Elliott grew up in Wilton , Connecticut, USA . Her parents are talent coordinator Paula Niedert and comedian Chris Elliott . Her grandfather is radio comedian Bob Elliott . Her sister is the actress Bridet "Bridey" Elliott . She attended Immaculate High School in Danbury . There she took part in many school performances and musicals. After graduating from high school in 2005, she attended Marymount Manhattan College in New York City, but left this again after the first semester to perform on Saturday Night Live . There she was the youngest woman who had ever been part of the main cast up to that point.

Before joining the main cast on Saturday Night Live in 2008, Abby Elliott had starred in King of the Hill for a brief arc . In 2011 she had roles in both Friendship Plus and High Road . In mid-February 2012, she was hired to star in the Fox series Ben and Kate . About a month later, however, she left the project because she felt too young for the role. In August 2012, Elliott announced that she would not be returning to Saturday Night Live after four seasons . Her father and grandfather had already appeared on this show. In early 2013 and early 2014, she was seen for a total of five episodes in How I Met Your Mother . She played a friend of the main character Ted , played by Josh Radnor . Later in the year she also appeared on the Happy Endings series .

In August 2010, it was announced that Elliott was dating her colleague from Saturday Night Live , Fred Armisen . The relationship between the two ended in September 2011.
