William Fichtner
William Edward "Bill" Fichtner, Jr. (born November 27, 1956 in Hempstead, New York ) is an American actor .
Life
Born at Mitchel Air Force Base in East Garden City , Fichtner comes from a family with German roots. After his school years, which he finished in 1974 at Maryvale High School in Cheektowaga , he completed training as a criminalist. However, since he did not want to work as a police officer, he then moved to New York City and took acting classes at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts .
After training as an actor, he became a member of the Circle Repertory Theater, where he received critical acclaim for his performance in The Fiery Furnace , directed by Norman Rene. He had other theater engagements in Raft of the Medusa at the Minetta Lane Theater, in The Years at the Manhattan Theater Club, in Clothes for a Summer Hotel at the famous Williamstown Theater Festival and in Machinal at Joseph Papp's Public Theater.
He then had his first television appearance in the US television series As The World Turns , in which he played the role of Josh Snyder between 1987 and 1993 . After very small supporting roles in the films Ramona! and Quiz Show , he was cast by director Steven Soderbergh for a major role in the film The Downside of the Coin. With his participation in Strange Days by Kathryn Bigelow and Heat by Michael Mann , he finally established himself as a serious character actor. This was followed by roles in the film adaptation of the novel Contact by Carl Sagan and the film Der Sturm , directed by Wolfgang Petersen .
After his participation in the Bruckheimer productions Armageddon - The Last Judgment , Pearl Harbor and Black Hawk Down , Fichtner turned increasingly to television series in recent years and also took on smaller roles. William Fichtner is known to a large audience as Agent Alexander Mahone from the US series Prison Break .
Under the name Bill Fichtner , he lent his voice to the character Ken Rosenberg for the computer games Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas . In 1997 he had already played a role in the game Wing Commander: Prophecy . He was also virtualized as Master Sergeant Sandman in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 .
From 2013 to 2014 he played a New York cop who was wounded in action in the internationally co-produced action crime series Crossing Lines , who was given a second chance in an elite unit to solve cross-border series crimes.
Fichtner is married for the second time. He has a son from his first marriage to Betsy Aidem, which was divorced in 1996. He has been married to Kymberly Kalil Fichtner since 1998, with whom he has another son.
Fichtner has been an ambassador for the American Multiple Sclerosis Society since 2003 . In 2011, he won the Toyota Pro / Celebrity Race in Long Beach, California , a charity car race for the benefit of Racing for Kids .
