action

The series does not take place in Boston like the other series by David E. Kelley , but in Cincinnati , Ohio .

Harriet "Harry" Korn, an older, dedicated and (economically) successful lawyer for patent law , makes after their dismissal as an employee of a law firm as a criminal defense independently. She opens her office with her partner Adam Branch in a shoe store run by her assistant Jenna Backstrom. They are also often supported in their work by a wealthy lawyer named Thomas "Tommy" Jefferson.

In season two, a larger office becomes available above the shoe store, which Harry shares with Tommy Jefferson. Harry's assistant Jenna continues to run the shoe shop. On Harry's team are now Cassie Reynolds and a former colleague of Harry, Oliver Richard. Together they continue to negotiate criminal cases in court.

characters

Harry Korn
Harriet Korn, who is called Harry, was fired from her old office and has therefore set up her own law firm. Harry often becomes arrogant in court, so that she sometimes ends up behind bars for disregarding the court.
Adam Branch
Adam Branch is a young lawyer who works with Harry in their law firm. He falls in love with his daughter while representing a client. He dreams of becoming a partner one day, but is put off by Harry because of his young age.
Jenna Backstrom
Jenna Backstrom is Harry's assistant and runs the shoe store, which is located in the office. Because the previous owner left a lot of shoes behind, Jenna thought about using this as an additional source of income. She gets together with Malcolm at the end of season one. During the second season she leaves the shoe store and moves to a new job in New York.
Malcolm Davies
Malcolm Davies isn't a lawyer, but he helps out at the firm. Together with attorney Tommy Jefferson, he supports a client who wants to sue the fast food industry. He hooks up with Jenna at the end of season one after they both kiss.
Cassie Reynolds
Cassie joins Harry's team after the firm has expanded. She often does research work.
Tommy Jefferson
Tommy is a famous lawyer who has even had contacts with former US presidents. He often works with Harry or supports them in their cases. Tommy always wants to be at the center of everything, but he doesn't always succeed. At the beginning of the second season, he and Harry merge their offices and share the new office space above the shoe store.
Oliver Richard
Oliver is a former friend and colleague of Harry and, like Cassie, comes to Harry's office after the expansion. At the beginning of his arrival at the office, he brings a major murder case with him, which he is trying with Harry in court.

production

On May 14, 2010, NBC officially announced that the pilot episode would be aired in series. Harry's Law was David E. Kelley's first series that was not produced by 20th Century Fox , but by Warner Bros.

For the first season, 13 episodes were initially ordered. The original pilot episode will not be broadcast, so the first season only has 12 episodes.

For the second season, the broadcaster NBC initially ordered 13 episodes. On October 11, it was announced that six more scripts had been ordered, but this did not mean that they would be converted into episodes. On November 12, 2011 it was announced that Harry's Law would switch to Sunday's mid-season. In January 2012, NBC finally ordered nine more episodes for the second season, bringing this to the usual season length of 22 episodes. Despite the great success that the series had with the general public and was thus the most-watched series on NBC, the target group got very bad values. Therefore, it was decided on May 11, 2012 against giving the series another season.

The second season was broadcast immediately after the first season from September 27, 2012, but was withdrawn from the program early due to poor audience ratings after three episodes shown.
