Aml Ameen (born July 30, 1985 in London ) is a British theater , film and television actor .

Life

Aml Ameen (pronounced Am-el ) was born in 1985 in London. His parents are from the Caribbean. From the age of seven he attended the Barbara Speake Stage School in West London. At the age of 11 he had his first engagement at the theater in the role of the young Sammy Davis, Jr. in a West End production of Jolson .

TV and film career

He made his first television appearance on the children's show 123 Hullabaloo . For television, Ameen also stood in front of the camera in 2003 for an episode of the series EastEnders , in which he played Simon. In 2004 he was first seen in a television film in Bella and the Boys and in 2006 in Menhaj Hudas Streets of London - Kidulthood in the role of Trife for the first time in a feature film, and was given a leading role in it. Between 2002 and 2007 Ameen was seen in a total of 69 episodes of the television series The Bill in various roles, from 2011 in 14 episodes of the television series Harry's Law in the role of Malcolm Davies. In 2013 he starred alongside Forest Whitaker in The Butler . 2014 followed the role of Alby in the movie Maze Runner - The Chosen in the Labyrinth . In the film drama Soy Nero by Rafi Pitts, which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in February 2016 , he was given the role of Private Bronx. Also in 2016 Ameen was in the role of Ryan in The Naked Poet of Jason Barrett to see the next year in a leading role in The Price of Anthony Onah , in which he played Seyi Ogunde. The Price followed in 2017 , in which he played a Nigerian émigré who works as a Harvard graduate on Wall Street. Ameen also starred in Idris Elba's directorial debut, Yardie , which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2018 , in which he plays D, who is set to build a drug empire in London. Like Ameen, Elba was born in London.

In the film parallel of Isaac Ezban who is to come during the year 2018 in the cinemas, it can be seen in the role of Devin. With the film The Pick Up , released in 2011, Ameen also gained first experience as a producer, director and screenwriter. He also directed and scripted the previously unreleased film A Night Worth Living .
