Austrian Bowl

The Austrian Bowl was played on July 21st in the NV Arena in St. Pölten. In front of 5,500 spectators, the two dominant teams of the Austrian Football League played an exciting, points-rich game with an extremely large number of leadership changes.

The Vikings forced the Raiders to take the only punt of the game in the first drive, only to score the first seven points of the game shortly afterwards. After a long drive, the Raiders equalized to 7: 7 at the end of the first quarter. With 14 points, the first fourth was the section of the game with the fewest points. The Raiders answered a field goal of the Viennese with a touchdown and took the lead for the first time. They expanded this to 21:10 with an interception touchdown from Vincent Müller. This was also the highest leadership of a team in the entire game. Shortly before the break, the Vikings were able to shorten with a touchdown.

In the second half, the Vikings took advantage of their first possession to regain the lead with a touchdown from Bernhard Seikovits. With quick touchdowns on both sides, the lead changed three more times in the third quarter, when Innsbruck was 34:31 ahead at the end. In the last part of the game, quarterback Garrett Safron brought the Vikings by a run in front. In the following move Vincent Müller managed a kickoff- return touchdown and again the Tyroleans led. In the middle of the quarter, the Vikings equalized to 41:41 with a field goal. A touchdown by quarterback Sean Shelton on the side of the Raiders, the Vikings equalized with a pass to Philipp Dubravec. Two minutes before the end of the game, Innsbruck was 48:48 with possession. When the time was running out, the raiders came to the 20-yard line, from where kicker Thomas Pichlmann scored the winning field goal at 51:48.
