The ATRIUM Steelsharks , with their full name ATRIUM SteelSharks Traun , are an American football team from Traun in Upper Austria. The club was founded in 1999 and currently plays in the Austrian Football League , the highest Austrian league.

history

The football team was founded in 1999 under the name Union Leonding Sharks in the city of Leonding near Linz. After a collaboration with the ASKÖ Steelers Linz, the name was changed to ASKÖ American Football Club SteelSharks Traun, or Steelsharks Traun for short.

In the 2010 season, the Steelsharks qualified for the Silver Bowl for the first time, but were defeated by the LA Titans with 24: 7. In their second Silver Bowl participation in 2016, the Steelsharks beat the Vienna Knights 12: 7 and subsequently rose to the Austrian Football League . The Steelsharks have been in the highest national league since the 2017 season.
