The Austrian Football League 2012 is the 28th season of the top Austrian men's American football division . It began on March 24, 2012 with the game of AFC Kornmesser Rangers against Swarco Raiders Tirol (0:52) and ended on July 28, 2012 with a win by Raiffeisen Vikings Vienna against Swarco Raiders Tirol (48:34) in the Austrian Bowl XXVIII on the Hohe Warte in Vienna.
Compared to the previous season there was a reduction in the AFL teams from seven to six. New in the league are the AFC Kornmesser Rangers from Mödling, no longer the Carinthian Black Lions and the Salzburg Bulls . A simple round-trip round is played, which means a total of 10 games for each team. The best four teams of the regular season take part in the playoffs, with the first two having home rights . Its winners play in the Austrian Bowl for the Austrian title.
As in the previous year, ORF also broadcast some games live this season. In addition to five basic games and the Austrian Bowl XXVIII, the Charity Bowl 2012 was also broadcast live.
