Alan Diego Faena (born November 20, 1963 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine hotelier and real estate developer. He is the founder and president of the Faena Group.

Life

Faena comes from the second generation of Syrian - Jewish textile manufacturers. At the age of 19 he founded the fashion label “Via Vai” in 1985 and worked as a fashion designer. He established the brand with 50 colored shirts, which he financed himself. After expanding the brand, Faena sold the company in 1996. After working as a fashion designer for more than 10 years, he entered the real estate business in 2000. In partnership with Leonard Blavatnik , Phillippe Starck and Foster + Partners, he redeveloped the abandoned port district in the Puerto Madero district of Buenos Aires. The Faena Arts Center , which he sponsored , opened there in September 2011. It shows the work of local and international artists. Faena later expanded to Miami Beach .

Faena is married to Ximena Caminos. They have a son together. Faena lives in Miami , Buenos Aires and Punta del Este in Uruguay .

Paradise Papers

On November 5th, 2017, it was announced through the Paradise Papers that Faena was the director and CEO of several offshore companies in the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands . Furthermore, Faena bank accounts appeared in Luxembourg and on the Isle of Man , which were linked to various hotels and real estate development projects in Puerto Madero .
