action

From an early age, Noni Jean (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) was prepared for a career as a singer by her mother (Minnie Driver). After all, she also achieved a success that was crowned with a Grammy. However, she has to be someone she really isn't. Desperate, she throws herself from the balcony in her hotel room, but the young policeman Kaz (Nate Parker) can barely save her. A new friendship begins and it is ultimately Kaz 'love that gives Noni the courage to find her own way to free herself and become the artist she wanted to be.

Beyond the Lights achieved a Metascore of 73/100 points at Metacritic , based on 25 ratings. At Rotten Tomatoes 81% of the reviews are positive, making it "certified fresh" ( German certified fresh ). The average rating is 6.8 / 10 based on 74 ratings.  

Rolling Stone's Peter Travers thinks the film is overflowing with surprises that match the film's title and describes it as "electrifying".
