Live and act
Life
Baker was born Richard Colson Baker on April 22, 1990 in Houston , Texas . He later changed his name to Colson Baker. His parents are missionaries , which is why he had to move several times when he was a child. He grew up for some time in Germany , Egypt , as well as in Denver , Chicago , Los Angeles and Cleveland . Due to the fact that he grew up in Egypt during the first four years of his life, he learned to speak Arabic . When the family moved back to the States, he attended sixth and seventh grades of Hamilton Middle School in Denver. At this point he first came into contact with hip-hop and rap through the music of DMX and Ludacris . At the age of 14, Baker moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where he attended Shaker Heights High School. In July 2020, Baker and Meghan Fox announced they were a couple.
Career
In 2009, Baker entered a talent competition that he won twice. He first gained fame through an appearance on MTV2 when he was part of the Sucker Free Freestyle show . In February 2010 the first mixtape 100 Words and Running was released . He made his national debut with the single Alice in Wonderland , which appeared on a Midwest Block Starz compilation on the Block Starz Music label. In November of the same year, the second mixtape followed with Lace Up . This includes the song Cleveland , which was played for some time at home games of the Cleveland Cavaliers . As a thank you, he received a Championship Ring from the Cavaliers in 2016.
In 2011 he was featured in XXL . In March 2011 he played at SXSW in Austin , Texas where he was discovered by Sean Combs . He signed him to his Bad Boy Records label . In November 2011, the single Wild Boy was released with Waka Flocka Flame as a guest rapper. In February 2012, Baker, who now calls himself Machine Gun Kelly , announced that he wanted to release an EP under the name Half Naked and Almost Famous . This was released in March 2012. In October 2012, the debut album, Lace Up, followed , which promptly reached number 4 in the US album charts . Machine Gun Kelly temporarily acted as MGK , but changed its name again. In June 2013, another mixtape was released with Black Flag , including Kellin Quinn from Sleeping with Sirens , French Montana , Dub-O, Sean McGee and Tezo. The collaboration with Kellin Quinn came about because Machine Gun Kelly was already working with his band in the same year on the song Alone from the album Feel .
In early 2014, it was said that Machine Gun Kelly would start work on his second album. In 2014 he appeared as an actor in Beyond the Lights . In 2015 he played Wesley "Wes" Mason in the Showtime series Roadies . His second studio album General Admission was released on October 16, 2015 . To promote the album, he released the two singles Till I Die and A Little More . In 2016 he appeared as an actor in Nerve . There he plays Tyler, who fights for victory with Ian and performs daring stunts. Also in 2016 a single called Bad Things was released in collaboration with Camila Cabello . In 2017 his third album Bloom was released . This stayed in Germany in 43rd place on the charts for a week. In 2018, two weeks after his single Rap Devil, the corresponding EP Binge was released. In the same year he played alongside Sandra Bullock and Trevante Rhodes as Felix in Bird Box - Close your eyes with. In The Dirt - They wanted Sex, Drugs & Rock'n'Roll , the Netflix film adaptation of the biography of the same name about Mötley Crüe , he played Tommy Lee in 2019 .
At the beginning of July 2019, Machine Gun Kelly released his fourth studio album Hotel Diablo , which reached number 75 in the German charts. In May 2020 the single Bloody Valentine was released . American actress Megan Fox can be seen in the accompanying music video . His new album Tickets to My Downfall , on which Travis Barker was also involved, is expected to be released in the course of 2020 .
