German trend charts

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German trend charts are a series of chart evaluations by the market research company GfK Entertainment that are published daily or weekly. They contain the most successful new releases in the German album , compilation and single charts and are considered trend charts in Germany.

General information and qualification criteria

The German trend charts are compiled by the German market research company GfK Entertainment on behalf of the Federal Association of the Music Industry, and some are published by MTV . They represent an excerpt from the regular Top 100 charts , in which sales of image or sound carriers , downloads and music streaming are recorded regardless of any repertoire segment. The German trend charts were introduced in 2008, at that time still under the name “Newcomer Charts”. They are determined according to the rules for the album Top 100 , Compilation Top 30 and Single Top 100 . In the Trend Charts merely titles can place that previously never made it to the official charts. If a sound carrier was able to place itself in the album Top 100 , Compilation Top 30 or the single Top 100 , a further placement in the trend charts is excluded. On the one hand, the daily trend charts for albums , compilations and singles as well as the single trend charts are collected as a weekly chart evaluation.

Daily trend charts

The daily trend charts are collected separately for albums, compilations and singles on a daily basis, with the evaluations of the albums and singles being determined as the top 150 charts and those of the compilations as the top 50 charts. The determination is made on the basis of the previous day, except on Sundays. Due to delays in the delivery of data from individual retailers, the database may differ slightly from that of the Top 100 charts or the Top 30 charts. Owing to the fact that streaming partners currently deliver their data a little too late for proper processing, they are included in the daily trend charts with a one-day delay until further notice .

Single trend charts

The single trend charts are determined weekly in line with the rules for the single top 100 and contain the first 20 titles that did not make it into the single top 100 .
