List of the number one hits in the German single charts

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of the most successful German-speaking singles in the German hit parade lists the German-speaking singles that have reached the highest place of all German-language titles in the German single charts since December 1, 1953 in the respective week .

Database

Until May 1959, the number one hits in the Federal Republic of Germany were based on the boxing parade of the machine market (determined monthly). From June 1959 to January 1965 the number one hits are taken from the music market hit parade (determined monthly). From February 1965 to December 1970 the FRG charts were determined by the music market every six months. Since 1971, the single week sales figures have been used as a benchmark. The music market determined these figures until 1977, Media Control GmbH & Co KG from 1977 and GfK Entertainment since 2013 . There are also books and lists that have been keeping weekly charts since 1956. These are lists interpolated from the monthly charts . There are no official lists of the sales figures for records in the GDR .

Note: In previous years it was sometimes common to group different versions of a song by different performers.

Notes on interpreting the statistics listed

The evaluations of the German single charts presented here only describe the most successful German-speaking singles. This is not the same as an official number one or top 10 success. Nor can any sales figures or further commercial successes be derived from this. Most of the lyrics (over 50%) must be written in German. Instrumental pieces are completely excluded from the list.

The data up to 2015 consisted of a separate analysis in which the most successful German-language single was filtered out of the official German single charts. Since 2015, GfK Entertainment has published the official “Top 15 German-speaking Singles”, in which Gfk uses the same principle to filter out the 15 most successful singles of each chart week from the single charts.

particularities

  • The Dutch child star Heintje broke from the top position twice in a row in 1968, so he stayed at the top of the charts as an interpreter with the titles Mama , Du shalt not cry and Heidschi Bumbeidschi for nine months without a break .
  • The title Patrona Bavariae from the German folk music duo Original Naabtal Duo only needed the highest position 59 in the chart week of April 10, 1989 to be the most successful German-language song in the official single charts.
  • In 2015 (after 22 years) the single Schrei nach Liebe from the Doctors was able to place itself in the top 10 again as the most successful German-language single in the German single charts and this time even reached the top position in the charts.
