Peter "Cool Man" Steiner (born January 22, 1917 ; † November 12, 2007 in Walenstadt ) was a Swiss advertising actor and musician .

He became known as the “Cool Man” trademark in the 1990s at an advanced age and with his beard . His first singles It's Cool Man and Geierwally , which were released in 1995, sold over a million copies and brought Steiner a gold record on the Swiss charts .

Life

Starting in 1993, Steiner advertised Milka chocolate with a mint filling in TV advertisements as the Swiss “Alpöhi” . The advertising character embodied by Steiner began with “Ah - a city dweller! You also think we're a bit old-fashioned up here. But that's not true. ”And ended with the sentence“ But be careful: It's cool, man! ”When this commercial achieved cult status , a dance remix was created in 1994 from the advertising text spoken by Steiner: The German producer team XXL produced Eurodance with Steiner -Single It's Cool Man , which entered the top 10 of the charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland at the beginning of 1995 . The second single with XXL, Geierwally , was released six months later and became a hit in Switzerland. Steiner gave autograph sessions back then. Magazines such as Schweizer Illustrierte dedicated articles to him.

Steiner was married and had ten children. His wife Katharina was also his manager. He used to live in San Bernardino and lived in Walenstadt until his death . His hobby was visiting livestock shows. Steiner made his last public appearance on November 4, 2007, when he in the show , the largest Swiss Hits the Swiss television was a guest. Eight days later, on the evening of November 12th, he died in the hospital in Walenstadt from the effects of a fit of weakness and a fall.
