Schwarze Pfütze is a hamlet belonging to the municipality of Oerlenbach with a restaurant of the same name that was founded in 1819 .

Geographical location

Schwarze Pfütze is located on the St 2445 , the former federal road 19 , and is the only settlement between Münnerstadt and Schnackenwerth (Markt Werneck ) through which the former B 19 passes.

From the western Bad Kissingen district Reiterswiesen coming, the county road crosses KG 8 there the St 2445. Over the Second World War by the German Wehrmacht as a driving range used district of Reiterswiesen is black puddle to reach on foot. The Franconian Marienweg leads through the village .

history

The reason for the construction of Schwarze Pfütze was the need for a restaurant in the middle of the 18-kilometer section of the " Sächsische Chaussee ", the forerunner of the B 19, between Poppenhausen and Münnerstadt . A memorial stone with the year 1819 reminds of the creation of Black Puddle. The name is likely to come from the small lake of the same name right next to the restaurant.

In 1806, the then sovereign, Grand Duke Ferdinand III, Joseph Johann Baptist von Habsburg-Toskana , planned a new settlement which was to be called "Ferdinand's Field". However, the residents of Rottershausen (now part of Oerlenbach) feared that their food supply would be endangered, as the planned settlement would have meant a reduction in the area around Rottershausen.

The first interested parties to run a restaurant were there in 1800. In 1810, the government drilled a well , whose cast-iron pump housing has been preserved, to supply drinking water . The first tenant of Schwarze Pfütze was a landlord from Oerlenbach in 1820 . On September 22nd, 1829, the intelligence paper for the Unter-Mainkreis reported about a settler who built two houses near Schwarze Pfütze.

From 1874 onwards, Schwarze Pfütze lost its importance with the construction of the Schweinfurt – Meiningen railway line running parallel to the road . The decline in the number of visitors was evened out somewhat when Black Puddle was visited more and more often by spa guests from Bad Kissingen . In his guide from Bad Kissingen, the physician Dr. Werner in 1889 "the beautiful view despite the moderate height of 185 m above the Saale and 395 m above the sea".

In the early 1970s, a parking lot was set up, for which the old chestnut trees in the host garden were felled.

In the vicinity of the black puddle there is a motocross track of the MMC Schweinfurt, on which competitions are also held.

The Gasthaus Schwarze Pfütze after the fire (December 2014)

From the end of 2004 to 2006 the Black Puddle was used as a swingers club . In December 2010 there was a change of tenants and the Schwarze Pfütze was converted back into an inn.

On December 6, 2013 the Gasthaus Schwarze Pfütze burned down completely; one person was killed. According to police investigations, the fire was caused by a defective electric blanket.

After the fire in the ruins, the brother of the deceased in the inn sold the building. However, since no payments were made after the purchase, the building was auctioned on December 20, 2017 at a starting price of € 1. At the auction, an investor from Schweinfurt was willing to pay € 7,432.15 (costs still due for property tax and reminders). However, since the owner had hoped for a higher amount between € 25,000 and € 30,000, he withdrew the offer (as of December 2017).
