Schnackenwerth is a district of the market Werneck in the Lower Franconian district of Schweinfurt .
geography
The parish village is located four kilometers northeast of Werneck on federal highway 19 , west of the Wern am Schleeriether Bach. Neighboring towns are Egenhausen , Schleerieth and Rundelshausen in the west, Werneck and Ettleben in the south, Bergrheinfeld in the east and Geldersheim in the north . The city of Schweinfurt is about eight kilometers to the northeast.
history
Schnackenwerth was first mentioned in a document on February 5, 1015. Historical names are Werede, Werda and Weritha, which are derived from the Old High German "werid" (= island, elevated land). In 1972 the previously independent municipality was incorporated into Werneck as part of the municipal reform.

The townscape is characterized by the parish church of St. Andreas with the well-preserved Gaden (a one-room house) and the cemetery with the Way of the Cross and the cemetery cross. There is also a field chapel with a path of pain and a Lourdes grotto . Other listed objects are the inn and several wayside shrines .
Sports
The SV Schnackenwerth with a sports field at the end of the village in the direction of Bergrheinfeld has departments for netball , football and pétanque .
Economy and Infrastructure
The village is characterized by agriculture, many residents are also active as commuters in the Schweinfurt industry.
The state road St 2246, the continuation of the federal highway 19 , leads west through the village, from there the A70 motorway, a good one kilometer south of the village, can be reached via the junction Werneck (AS 3). Schnackenwerth is connected to the Werneck market's cycle path network.
