Mühlhausen is a district of the market Werneck in the Lower Franconian district of Schweinfurt with about 600 inhabitants.

The place is four kilometers southwest of Werneck, Schweinfurt is about 15 kilometers as the crow flies. The Wern flows directly north of Mühlhausen . The Weidleinbach , the Brumbach and the Riedener Mühlbach flow into the local area. The Franconian Marienweg runs through Mühlhausen .

history

Traces of settlement have been detectable since the Neolithic . Settlements from the linear ceramics , the Rössen culture , the Hallstatt , Latène , Urnfield and Iron Ages were found. The origins of Mühlhausen go back to the Frankish empire colonization during the Carolingian period in the 8th / 9th centuries. Century back. In 815 the place was first mentioned in a document as "Mulinhuus". The name means "house or houses by the mill". There used to be a total of four mills on the Wern and its tributaries.
