In the past, horse breeding flourished , brushwood brooms were made as a sideline, and many residents worked as stone cutters in the nearby stone quarries . In 1972 the previously independent municipality of Schraudenbach was incorporated into the municipality of Werneck as part of the municipal reform.

Collapse of the Schraudenbach viaduct
The A 7 , one of the most important European north-south connections ( Scandinavian motorway), runs 1 km southeast of the village center and crosses the district road SW 12 there by means of the approximately 20 m high Schraudenbach viaduct . The old four-lane bridge from 1965 has been replaced by a new six-lane bridge since 2015 and is located 2 km southwest of the Schweinfurt / Werneck motorway junction .
On June 15, 2016 at around 4 p.m., a 40 m long, encased section of the new bridge under construction fell 20 m down during the concreting work on the SW 12 district road, on which no one was at this point during the accident. Numerous construction workers were dragged into the depths. One of them died, 15 were injured, including 6 seriously.
