Ettleben is a district of the market Werneck in the Lower Franconian district of Schweinfurt .

geography

The place is immediately east of Werneck and is only separated from it by the Wern flowing past it to the south . The Lachgraben touched the town to the north and flowed into the Wern in the east. Schweinfurt is about 10 km as the crow flies.

The townscape of the old town is characterized by typical Franconian farmsteads, which are arranged in a horseshoe shape around the church. In the west there is a settlement area.

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 838. In 1972 the previously independent municipality of Ettleben was incorporated into the municipality of Werneck as part of the municipal reform.

Attractions

The catholic parish church of St. Michael is worth seeing, with a ceiling fresco of the "angel fight" and an organ from the year 1830. Next to the residential area Wiesenhaus on the eastern border of the district you can find a stone figure of the "Kreuzschleppers".

Economy / infrastructure

Because of the good loess soil , agriculture is traditionally important; the cultivation of grain and sugar beet dominates . There is also a large orchard . Many workers are employed in the Schweinfurt industry.

The federal road 26 leads through Ettleben . The A70 motorway with the Werneck junction (AS 3) runs 2 km to the north . The place is connected to the cycle path network of the market Werneck.

Sports

The sports club TSV Ettleben was founded in 1920 and offers football, netball, table tennis, children's gymnastics, running and dancing.
