Rundelshausen is a district of the market Werneck in the district of Schweinfurt in Lower Franconia with about 300 inhabitants.
geography
The village is three kilometers north of Werneck am Eschenbach , a tributary of the Wern . Schweinfurt is about 12 kilometers as the crow flies.
The old town center shows stately farmsteads built in natural stone , north of the Eschenbach there has been a settlement area since 1955.
history
Rundelshausen was first mentioned in a document in 1234, at that time as Rundoltshusen , Runtzelshausen or Rundoltzhausen , which means "near the houses of Hrunzolf". On July 1, 1972, the place was incorporated into the municipality of Werneck as part of the municipal reform.
Attractions
In addition to the Catholic Church of St. Petrus de Alcantara from 1860, several wayside shrines made of local sandstone should be highlighted, which point to the Catholic faith that has prevailed in the village over the past centuries.
Economy and Infrastructure
The field of Rundelshausen is in the flat valley of the Eschenbach, which is equipped with very good loess soils , which was very beneficial for agriculture. Located on the edge of the Franconian wine country , there were also 4.4 hectares (22 acres) of vineyards until 1883, but these disappeared in favor of arable land.
It used to be mainly agriculture. Today there are only a few farmers left, as the farms and lands have become too small for today's agricultural requirements as a result of the Franconian inheritance. Most employees commute to the nearby industrial city of Schweinfurt or to Würzburg , Bamberg , Bad Kissingen and Bad Neustadt .
Approx. 2 km east of the A70 at the Werneck (AS3) slip road is a 40 hectare industrial area with the Euro-Rastpark Werneck .
traffic
Rundelshausen was already on a salt road in the Middle Ages . The district road SW 29 runs through the village . The motorways 7 and 70 , which meet at the Schweinfurt / Werneck motorway junction , pass around 1 km away and can be reached via the federal highway 26a , the continuation of the A 70 and the motorway junction.
The place is connected to the cycle path network of the market Werneck.
