German hip-hop charts

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German Hip-Hop Charts (currently Hip-Hop Top 20 ) is a chart analysis by the market research company GfK Entertainment , which is published weekly. They contain the most successful hip-hop albums on the music market and are the official hip-hop charts in Germany.

General information and qualification criteria

The German hip-hop charts are compiled by the German market research company GfK Entertainment on behalf of the Federal Music Industry Association . They record sales of image or sound carriers , downloads and music streaming with hip-hop as the end consumer. Allocation to the hip-hop genre is determined by registering in the PHONONET article master (program type 114). These are “ repertoire charts” that depict the “hip-hop” market segment. If image or sound carriers are identified as hip-hop products in the PHONONET article master, but obviously do not belong in this repertoire segment (incorrect labeling), GfK Entertainment should disregard reports, provided the responsible distributor agrees. In cases of doubt, the examiner will decide. The German hip-hop charts are an excerpt from the regular album Top 100 , in which sales are recorded regardless of any repertoire segment. A parallel placement of a product both in the album Top 100 and in the Hip-Hop Top 20 is therefore not only possible in principle, but will be the rule for products that sell well. Only those products are qualified for the Hip-Hop Top 20 that have a retailer range of at least two retailer groupings, which means that at least two of the retailer groupings included in the sample must have sold at least one product of the relevant title every week in order for it to be suitable for the Hip-hop charts can qualify. The German Hip-Hop Charts are not just repertoire charts, but also “artist charts”, which means that samplers are not taken into account.

Milestones

The German hip-hop charts were introduced on March 23, 2015 as a weekly top 20 hit parade for music albums . Normaler Samt from the German rap combo Audio88 & Yassin was the first work to top the chart. As the first album on May 22nd, 2015 Eighth Day of Genetikk could defend the top position. With five weeks straight, Cros MTV Unplugged was the longest in a row at the top of the chart (July 24th - August 27th, 2015). On August 28, 2015, Compton placed by Dr. Dre for the first time a foreign product at the top. The two collab albums Palmen aus Plastik and Palmen aus Plastik 2 by the German rapper Bonez MC and the Austrian RAF Camora managed to recapture the top four times, more often than any other album. On June 9, 2017, an album by female artists was at the top of the chart for the first time, and the duo SXTN succeeded in doing so with life at the limit . The first female solo album to reach the top of the chart comes from former SXTN member Juju , she reached first place with her debut album Bling Bling on June 21, 2019. Fler (including his pseudonym Frank White) and Kollegah were able to place most of the albums at the top of the chart, each with six albums. With a total of nine weeks, Palms made of Plastic 2 were able to take the top position the longest. The German rapper Bonez MC was number one with his albums for 19 weeks, longer than anyone else.
