Frank Zander
Frank Kurt Zander (* 4. February 1942 in Berlin - Neukölln as Frank Kurt Adolf Zander ) is a German pop - and Germanpop - musician , presenter and actor .

Musically
After training as a graphic designer , Zander began his career as a singer and guitarist for the Gloomy Moon Singers (later Gloomys ). In the mid-1970s, he started his solo career and became known with songs such as "Der Ur-Ur-Enkel von Frankenstein" (1974; 1975 in Austria for one week at number 1), "Ich trink auf dein Wohl, Marie" (1974) and "Oh, Susi (the censored song)" (1976). In 1977 he received the bronze Bravo Otto from the youth magazine Bravo .
From 1978 onwards, under the pseudonym Fred Sonnenschein and his friends, other songs such as “Der kleine Finkenhahn” followed. The friends were the golden hamster Fritz, Rudi, Walter and Max In television appearances was Frank Zander aka Fred sunshine but only two hamster friends, namely Fritz and Max in. Mascots - costume accompanied who were talking animatedly with him in the songs or his Left to narrator role. As with the Smurfs , which had become popular at the same time , the hamster voices were processed electronically. Hugo Egon Balder lent his voice to the golden hamster Fritz . After that, Zander was successful with two more cover versions of current hits, in 1982 with " Da, da, da , ich weiß Bescheid, du weißt Bescheid" (original by trio ), which was featured in the Austrian and Swiss charts, and in early 1986 with his Persiflage “Jeanny (The Pure Truth)” on Falco's “ Jeanny ”, which also entered the Swiss and Austrian charts.
In November 1989 he brought out the single "Here comes Kurt" under the image of Kurt, which also stayed in the charts for several weeks in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Zander sang the German themed song of the television series Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles and the film Ein Fall für TKKG: Drachenauge .
For the Berlin football club Hertha BSC , Zander wrote and sang the club song “Nur Nach Heimat (we don't go)” in 1993, which is played before and after every home game by Hertha BSC.
Since 1997, Zander has been singing about “very personal birthday CDs” with a birthday song for a certain first name. These CDs are sold individually as CD-Rs by the company "Handgebrannt". The concept for this is based on the birthday singles from the company Bob Burrows, which Frank Zander recorded in the mid-1980s.
His CD “Rabenschwarz” (2004) - advertised as “Das Ende des Deutschen Schlagers” - contains hits like “17 year, blondes Haar” by Udo Jürgens , which were covered in the style of Rammstein . On October 31, 2005, the CD “Rabenschwarz Part 2” was released, including a duet with Nina Hagen . As a TV presenter, he performed together with Helga Feddersen in the record kitchen between 1976 and 1980 . From 1979 to 1980 he appeared in 30 episodes of Hot Tips in the WWF regional program. Zander later worked with various colleagues on ARD programs such as Bananas (1981–1984), Fun am Tuesday , Kangaroo or Frankobella (with Isabel Varell ). On ZDF he hosted the music show Caution, Music ! and on RTL the RTL children's hit parade .

In the cinema
He dubbed Asterix in the re-dubbing of Asterix the Gaul and Asterix - Victory over Caesar and also took on a small dubbing role as a butterfly in the cartoon The Last Unicorn . In 1997, Zander dubbed the power tool in the German cartoon Die fearless Vier .
In the 2007 German feature film Neues vom Wixxer , he played a small role as Fred Fartwind.
Personal
Frank Zander has been married since 1968, has a son and a grandson and lives in Ibiza and in an apartment he has rented in an apartment building in Berlin-Charlottenburg since 1967 .
Zander's great-grandfather was friends with Heinrich Zille . Some of Zille's drawings are in his possession today.
Frank Zander had his third first name Adolf deleted.
The hallmark from the beginning of the career was the rough voice, it is the result of an uncured tonsillitis in the early 1970s.
Zander is also active as a painter. His pictures can be purchased and can also be seen in exhibitions.
social commitment
Since 1995, Zander has been organizing a Christmas dinner for around 3,000 homeless and needy people in Berlin , for which he can win numerous companies as sponsors. Celebrities also offer their help by serving the Christmas menu, filling the entertainment program or handing out gifts. A total of around 3000 goose legs, 6500 dumplings, 850 kilos of red cabbage and 250 liters of sauce are served every year.
