Watch out, music! was a music show that ran from October 11, 1982 to January 4, 1984 with a total of eleven episodes on ZDF .

The show was moderated by Frank Zander . The moderator drew their joke from his dialogue with his co-moderator. This was represented by a hand puppet in the form of a dog named Mr. Feldmann . This was spoken by Hugo Egon Balder , who was cheeky and cheeky and Zander regularly interrupted the conversation.

As a follow-up to the show disco with Ilja Richter , the show was also recorded in the ZDF Landesstudio Bayern in Unterföhring near Munich. Zander also continued the tradition of Ilja Richter's pause sketches under the motto Tips in all situations . Frank Zander played a double role. As Rudi Rüpel , he demonstrated the success and failure of everyday situations, while as Dr. Besserwiss commented in a "scientific" lecture.

In caution Music! Karaoke was also made known to a broad German television audience for the first time. The audience had to be careful in the thematic block , video! the opportunity to send in self-made videos, of which the best was awarded a prize.

Episodes 1 & 2 and episode 4 were repeated for the first time in 3sat in 2009 . At the time, however, the overpriced licensing rights prevented the repetition of the remaining eight episodes, which, due to the lack of publication, can only be obtained from the ZDF program service as private copies on individual DVDs at a price of EUR 40 each.

In September 2012, all eleven episodes of ZDFkultur were repeated again.

Musical content

The program was characterized by the selection of music listed below as the main subject in addition to moderation and the environment. Like its predecessor disco , it consisted of playback appearances by various German and international bands and singers with their songs from the hit parades . Besides Musikladen and Bananas, it was the only TV music program for young people broadcast in Germany. However, both programs came to an end with the new competition format Formula One , which started in 1983 and, instead of exclusively performing live, for the first time had greater flexibility and lower production costs by playing music videos.
