Vamos a la playa

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Vamos a la playa ( German  let's go to the beach ) is a song by Righeira from 1983.

background

In the song, Stefano Rota and Stefano Righi deal with the effects of pollution in the Mediterranean and the consequences of a nuclear war during the Cold War . In the song, among other things, an atom bomb explodes on the beach. Music and lyrics are by Angelo la Bionda, Carmelo la Bionda and Stefano Righi. The La Bionda brothers , who appeared as musicians under their family name, were also responsible for the production together with Hermann Weindorf.

style

The song is regarded by many as a model for summer-heavy pop music and as the prototype of a representative of the Italo Disco genre popular in the early 1980s , although the lyrics were sung in Spanish . This fact has probably been given a catchier refrain by the producer. Vamos a la playa was the most commercially successful work by the Righeira duo. An interview with the Pet Shop Boys from 2007, in which they describe the importance of the song and the current of the Italo Disco for their own work , proves how style-defining the number was .
