Niko is the pseudonym of the German singer, arranger and songwriter Ralf Roder.

biography

Even before graduating from high school , Roder began writing German-language songs, and later studied music and sports. As a solo entertainer , he first appeared at family and company celebrations. In the early 1980s, under the stage name Niko, he had his first success as a singer. The 1983 debut single Am weiß Strand von Helgoland , which was published by Ariola , made it into the German single charts and reached number 21. The song was published the following year in a Dutch version with lyrics by Johnny Hoes ( Aan't warm witte Noordzeestrand ) released. Other singles than Niko went largely unnoticed.

In 1985 Ralf Roder changed the genre and published some English-language pop singles under the pseudonym Prime Time. Since the hoped-for success did not materialize, he initially worked as an advertising clerk . The multi-instrumentalist later concentrated on his work as a composer and wrote a.o. a. for Roland Kaiser , Olaf Henning , Norman Langen , Peter Wackel and Die Paldauer . For Modern System feat. Lotto King Karl composed the title Nothing but the Truth in 2003 and was involved in the recording as a studio singer . The song made it into the German charts (number 94).

Ralf Roder has been running a recording studio (raro music) in Barsbüttel since the late 1990s and successfully produces music for horse training .
