The Paldauer are an Austrian music group specializing in hit music . The band is named after the market town of Paldau in Styria .
Career
The group was founded in 1968 by Franz Griesbacher and his stepbrother Erwin Pfundner and their friends Johann Kaufmann, Alfred Kien and Franz Scheucher under the name of the "Paldauer Quintett". Initially, the group performed at various clubs in Paldau and the surrounding area. The official entry as a music band took place in 1972. After each of the musicians learned a different profession, they switched to professional music three years later. In the following years, the line-up of the band changed several times. The group included the Swiss singer and violinist Egon Egemann .
The current line-up (as of 2010) includes the following members: Franz Griesbacher, Anton Peter "Toni" Hofer, Erwin Pfundner, Renato Wohllaib, Dietmar "Didi" Ganshofer and Harry Muster.
Harry Muster joined Manfred Brandstätter in 2004, who left the group for private reasons. The group is produced by Franz Griesbacher and (in earlier years) by Jean Frankfurter . Meanwhile, the Paldauer work together with well-known greats such as the producers of Stevie Wonder. Many of the titles were penned by the musicians, especially Renato Wohllaib and Didi Ganshofer, but other popular authors also write for the Styrian group, such as Andreas Bärtels, Bernd Augener or Alfons Weindorf. All members of the group play several instruments and some have received classical music training from well-known conservatories.
The first record With Us It's Fun was recorded in 1977. Further records were produced from 1980. In the meantime the group had made a name for itself beyond the borders of Austria. In 1984 it became the most successful group in Austria and Switzerland. Numerous television appearances followed. In 1988 she made her first TV appearance in Germany with the title Tanz mit mir Corinna . This was the first big hit for the Paldauer and brought a victory in the Schlagerparade. Then more hits followed and their albums received gold several times (for the first time in 1989). In addition to the television events, the band also gave live concerts.
In 1998 the Paldauer took part in the German Schlager Festival and achieved 2nd place with If you want . In the same year they were honored with the golden tuning fork and with the title Well, finally you were three times winner in the ZDF hit parade. A year later the group had another huge hit. With Düsseldorfer Girl they were the annual winners of the ZDF hit parade . In 2001 the Paldauer received the "German Schlagerpreis" from NDR 1 Welle Nord.
The Paldauer are among the most successful music groups on the German-speaking pop market. They attend dozens of live concerts every year, are on the move without a break, so to speak, and organize trips with up to 400 of their fans every year. The band's live performances are their well-known strengths, almost every sound is actually live, practically nothing comes from the tape. The repertoire ranges from their own hits to rock'n'roll songs ( Jailhouse Rock , Devil In Disguise ...) or classical influences such as Granada or Funiculì, Funiculà and various solos by the musicians.
