Norman Langen
Norman Langen (born March 7, 1985 in Würselen - Bardenberg ) is a German pop singer who became known for his participation in the TV casting show Deutschland sucht den Superstar in 2011.
Private career
Langen was born on March 7, 1985 in Bardenberg ( Aachen district ) and lives today in Übach-Palenberg ( Heinsberg district ) on the border with the Netherlands. He has four siblings - one half-sister, one half-brother and two stepsisters. His parents separated when Langen was five years old. From then on he grew up with his mother, half-sister and stepfather, until 10 years later his two step-sisters moved into the household.
Langen completed training as a welder at BGE Aachen and, after retraining at MaxQ in Erkelenz, worked as a carer for dementia patients in a closed geriatric psychiatric facility. After further training, he provided voluntary terminal care in this facility .
Langen has been married to Verena de Haan since 2016. In 2018 they became parents of a son.
Artistic career
In 2000, Langen was part of the music group The Crew and background singer at TAMO . In 2002 he joined the boy band bexcess , which was later renamed Manhattan . His stage name at the time was Sam G'erome. Langen completed a two-year vocal training course at the Aachen Theater in 2002 .
In 2009 he split from his band to perform solo under his real name. In 2011 he took part in the eighth season of the casting show Deutschland sucht den Superstar , which RTL broadcast from January to May 2011. There he sang mainly German-language titles by popular hits like Jürgen Drews , DJ Ötzi or Wolfgang Petry and, after audience voting , reached seventh place in the show. This was followed by live appearances, for example on television, in clubs and at major events.
For Koch / Universal , Langen recorded his first studio album Pures Gold in mid-2011 , which, in addition to four of his own pieces, included reinterpretations of well-known hits. Langen covered titles from Blue System , Wolfgang Petry and Jürgen Drews , among others . The latter and Olaf Henning can be heard as guest vocalists on the debut album. With the album Pures Gold , Langen entered the top 50 of the German and the top 75 of the Austrian charts.
For the second album 100% Norman , the management relied on the collaboration with producer Hermann Niesig . It was published on January 4, 2013 and entered the Top 100 of the German and Top 100 of the Austrian charts at number 43. At the beginning of March 2014, Langen switched to the Ariola label before releasing a third album . The third album Wunderbar was released in March 2015 and rose to number 41 in the German album charts. In December 2018, Norman Langen became a member of the charity project Schlagerstars für Kinder and recorded the song "Auf once" with the group. The campaign by Schlagerplanet Radio and the SOS Children's Villages collects money for children in need with the Christmas song.
