Career

Loretta Goggi was discovered by radio presenter Silvio Gigli and in 1959 she won the Disco Magico radio competition by Dino Verde together with Nilla Pizzi . That same year, followed her first film role in the TV movie Sotto processo of Anton Giulio Majano . She then appeared in many other television films of the 1960s, for example in La cittadella , E le stelle stanno a guardare , I miserabili , Le avventure del Commissario Maigret or La vita di Dante . As Loretta , she released the single Se la cercherai on RCA Italiana in 1963, the theme song written by Nico Fidenco for the Italian version of the film Vulkan im Blut with Jean Gabin . She also worked as a voice actress ; so she was the first Italian voice of the cartoon character Tweety .

In 1968 Goggi got a leading role in the miniseries La freccia nera by Anton Giulio Majano , a film adaptation of Stevenson's novel The Black Arrow . Due to the success of the series, Goggi was also able to gain a leading role in the film Zingara (with Bobby Solo ) and a recording contract with Durium . Her first official single was Fino all'ultimo and was released in 1969. Around this time she was also working for Vatican Radio . She gained a foothold on entertainment television in the early 1970s. For example, she moderated the show Estate insieme with Renzo Arbore , where she performed with her sister Daniela, and various special programs such as Incontro con… Lucio Battisti ; in addition, she moderated radio programs and continued her career as a singer. In 1971 Pippo Baudo became aware of Goggi on a radio show and hired her as a showgirl for his TV show La freccia d'oro . This summer, she took with the song Io sto vivendo senza te competition Un disco per l'estate part. As early as 1972, Baudo brought Goggi to the side on the popular program Canzonissima . As a result, she became enormously popular with television audiences and the title song she recorded, Vieni via con me , became a hit. The next year she was given the opportunity to regularly present her own songs on Alighiero Noschese's show Formula 2 , which then appeared on the album named after the show.

After a brief retreat from the public, Goggi signed a new recording deal with CBS in 1975. The song Dirtelo, non dirtelo , which she herself presented in the music film Dal primo momento che ti ho visto , was a smaller hit again in 1976. As a result, it concentrated increasingly on music, it was produced by Totò Savio . As part of the live show Go & Go , she toured Italy with her sister Daniela Goggi for two years and presented new songs. The RAI then engaged the sisters for the music show Il ribaltone , which was followed by an album of the same name.

From 1979 Loretta Goggi appeared again alone and was allowed to present the show Fantastico at the side of Heather Parisi and Beppe Grillo . Goggi now also have hits like L'aria del sabato sera (1979) on the WEA label . With Maledetta primavera she entered the Sanremo Festival in 1981 and came in second behind Per Elisa von Alice . The song became a number one hit and was also successful outside of Italy. The follow-up single Il mio prossimo amore built on the success.

On this wave of success, Goggi received his own program Hello Goggi on Canale 5 , a leading role in the play Stanno suonando la nostra canzone alongside Gigi Proietti and presenter of the Gondola d'oro music award from Venice . In 1982 she started the program Effetto musica for Radio Rai and recorded the album Pieno d'amore . At Rete 4 in 1983 Goggi presented Gran Varietà alongside Paolo Panelli and Luciano Salce . For two years she also moderated the quiz show Loretta Goggi in quiz . In 1986 she was the first woman to host the Sanremo Festival. In this context, she also recorded the song Io nascerò on the Fonit-Cetra label. This was followed by the program Il bello della diretta , during which Goggi presented the new album C'è poesia .

In the following years she appeared in other RAI programs such as Canzonissime (1987), Ieri, Goggi e domani or Via Teulada 66 and released new albums such as C'è poesia 2 , Donna io, donna tu and Punti di vista . In 1991 she presented Festa di compleanno at Telemontecarlo and released the album Si faran… canzone, produced by Mario Lavezzi . Various appearances in film, television and theater followed up into the 2010s. In 2008 she married Gianni Brezza after a 30-year relationship . In 2013 Goggi's autobiography appeared with Io nascerò - La forza della mia fragilità , followed by the book Mille donne in me in 2016 .
