history
Surname
Mentioned for the first time in 1253 as Horbruche, the name can have a twofold derivation from its location. The connection hor = har (high) in connection with the marshland between the desert Klus Ednahm and the field corridor Im Bruch , which is still called today, gives the meaning of the high break . The second meaning corresponds to the altitude on the Eiserweg from the Börde to the Weser over the high bridge . The current name Haarbrück finally developed from the spellings Horbruche (1253), Horbruge (1325), Horbrugghe (1367) and Harbrugge (1574).
Local history
The two oldest documents date from March 10, 1253 and March 3, 1325, when Paderborn bishops consolidated their influence in the manufacturing area. After several feudal and pledging operations , the feudal sovereignty with the lower jurisdiction came to the owners of the Kemperfeld / Herstelle estate. They received tithing and other services and donations. After all rights were removed, the residents became independent owners from 1836 onwards .
Until 1969 Haarbrück was an independent municipality in the Beverungen district . As part of the community reform in the Höxter district, Haarbrück merged with the city of Beverungen and the ten communities of Amelunxen, Blankenau, Dalhausen, Drenke, Herstelle, Jakobsberg, Rothe, Tietelsen, Wehrden and Würgassen to form the new city of Beverungen on January 1, 1970.
church
Instead of a chapel built in 1608 , today's parish church of St. Bartholomew was built in 1883 . It was consecrated in 1886. The parish administered from 1659 to 1811 fathers from the manufacturer Minorite monastery , from 1811 the pastors from the neighboring village Jakobsberg . Haarbrück got its own clergyman in 1860, and the parish was restored in 1864.
school
Artisan teachers gave school lessons from around 1660, and they were also sextons of the chapel. A community school was built in 1824 on the Kleppelberge, which was replaced in 1894 by a new building on the Kampe. In 1969 the school in Haarbrück was closed. Since then, the primary school children have been going to the neighboring town of Dalhausen , the others to the secondary schools in Beverungen. The old school building was demolished in 1973 and the city of Beverungen built a community hall with an attached fire station on this property in the same year .
Second World War
The invasion of American forces took place on April 6, 1945 after several hours of bombardment of the village. Eight German soldiers were killed and one student was killed; nine buildings were destroyed and 19 others were badly damaged.
Local development
Around 1900 the place had 99 houses, in 1945 there were 103, in 2007 173 houses. With the central water supply in 1912 and the electricity connection in 1922, the structural improvement began , which continued in 1959 when Haarbrück was one of the first places in the district to be fully canalized . The streets were then paved and the sidewalks laid out.
The formative influence of agriculture until decades ago is declining in the townscape . There are still seven full-time businesses and seven part-time businesses .
Most of the employees earn their livelihood outside of Haarbrück, many of them in the construction industry according to old traditions . There is a bakery , a butcher's shop , two restaurants , a carpenter's shop and a sawmill in the village .
Community life
Since the construction of the community hall, community life has experienced a new impetus through the associations . A sports field built in 1975 and a sports home built there in 1985 also have a positive effect. The former rectory, which was converted into a rectory in 1999, can also be used by associations. On May 5, 1999, the Haarbrück eV association was founded, which consists of:
- St. Bartholomew's Rifle Brotherhood (re-established in 1824)
- Haarbrück Volunteer Fire Brigade (founded 1912)
- Kyffhäuser Comradeship (founded 1922)
