geography
The Beverungen office was located in the southeast of the Höxter district. The offices of Brakel and Höxter-Land (district of Höxter), the Lower Saxon districts of Holzminden and Northeim , the Hessian district of Hofgeismar and the district of Warburg bordered the office in a clockwise direction, starting in the west .
history
The Beverungen office was established in 1843 as part of the introduction of the rural community order for the province of Westphalia . The city of Beverungen initially remained vacant and had only been part of the office since 1937.
On the basis of an area change agreement of January 2, 1969 and Section 2 of the "Law for the Reorganization of the District of Höxter" of December 2, 1969, which also confirms the area change agreement in Section 8 (2), the municipalities of the office, with the exception of Bruchhausen, merged to form the new town of Beverungen on January 1, 1970. Bruchhausen merged according to § 1 with the eleven municipalities of the Höxter-Land office and the city of Höxter to form the new city of Höxter. The Beverungen office was dissolved. The legal successor is the city of Beverungen.
