history

Bruchhausen was first mentioned in a document in 963.

There is a renaissance castle from 1582 with a half-timbered wing from 1687 and a baroque manor house from 1777. In 1699 the chapel was donated on the castle grounds. The owners were the lords of Bruchhausen, who died out in 1450, as Corveyer feudal takers, from whom the estate came to von Mense gen. Von Bruchhausen around 1450 and from 1524/1537 to the Kanne von Lügde through an heir daughter. In 1884 the barons Wolff-Metternich bought the property and live in it to this day.

The formerly independent municipality in the Beverungen office merged on January 1, 1970 with the eleven municipalities of the Höxter-Land office and the town of Höxter to form the new town of Höxter.
