Bosseborn is the smallest district in the town of Höxter . The place is a typical hill village in the Weser Uplands and is located on the western slope at 300  m above sea level. NHN to 340  u m. NHN . With its forests, it is a popular hiking destination. The state road L 890 leads from Ottbergen to Ovenhausen through the village. The K18 district road connects Bosseborn to the center of Höxter.

history

The place is documented in the 10th century as Boffesburium , Berthold Kanne operated a lime kiln in Bosseborn from 1568 . In 1726 the Catholic parish church of St. Maria Himmelfahrt was inaugurated.

From the beginning of the 19th century Bosseborn formed an independent rural community of the Office Höxter-Albaxen in the old district of Höxter . The community encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a population of 518 for the rural community of Bosseborn (eleven Protestant and 507 Catholic faith), who lived in 91 houses and households. The area of ​​the municipality (1,042 hectares ) was divided into 793 hectares of arable land, 21 hectares of meadows and 105 hectares of forest.

At the time, the rural community of Bosseborn had its own Catholic parish. The few evangelical believers belonged to the parish in Höxter.

In 1894, the MGV Cäcilia Bosseborn men's choir was founded. In 1925 the place was connected to the power grid , in 1927 the voluntary fire brigade Bosseborn was founded.

On April 7, 1945, the site was captured by US troops during World War II . During the Cold War , the 43rd Belgian Artillery Battalion, based in Brakel , maintained a mobile NATO anti-aircraft missile battery of the type MIM-23 HAWK in the Modex forest in Bosseborn from 1963 to 1993 .

On January 1, 1970 Bosseborn was incorporated into the district town of Höxter.

In April / May 2016 Bosseborn became known in the media through the Höxter criminal case , in which a couple murdered two women in a house and abused and financially damaged at least seven other women.
