Lorenzo Natali

Lorenzo Natali Pierucci Bondicchi (born October 2, 1922 in Florence , † August 29, 1989 in Rome ) was an Italian politician .

Natali was a member of the Italian Chamber of Deputies for the Democrazia Cristiana from 1948 to 1979 . From 1966 to 1968 he was Minister of Commerce for the Navy, and between June 1968 and March 1970 he served twice as Minister of Public Works; then he was Minister of Agriculture until July 1973.

He was European Commissioner for twelve years. From 1977 to 1981 he was in the Jenkins Commission responsible for enlargement , environmental policy and nuclear safety . From 1981 to 1985 he was again in the Thorn Commission for enlargement and for Mediterranean policy and information . In addition to enlargement, he was from 1985 to 1989 in the Delors Commission I Commissioner for Development Cooperation .

From 1977 to 1981 and from 1985 to 1989 he was also Vice-President of the Commission.

In 1992 he was launched in honor of the Lorenzo Natali Media Prize of the European Commission, which is awarded for outstanding reporting on issues of sustainable development.
