François-Xavier Ortoli
François-Xavier Ortoli (born February 16, 1925 in Ajaccio in Corsica , † November 30, 2007 in Paris ) was a French businessman and politician .
Ortoli was a graduate of the École nationale d'administration . He became an advisor to President Georges Pompidou and in 1966 head of the Commissariat général du Plan . From 1967 to 1972 he held various ministerial posts in France.
He was 1973-1984 member of the EC - Commission :
- 1973 to 1977: President of the European Commission
- 1977 to 1985: Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs
From 1984 to 1990 he was General Manager of Total .
