Pierre Chatenet

Pierre Chatenet (born March 6, 1917 in Paris , † September 4, 1997 in Tavers , Loiret ) was a French politician. Chatenet was the interior minister of France (1959–1961) and from 1962 to 1967 President of EURATOM .

After studying at the Lycée Buffon and the University of Paris as well as at the École libre des sciences politiques , he became maître des requêtes in the State Council . Soon afterwards he became a member of the staff of Labor Minister Alexandre Parodi and also took part as a French delegate at the United Nations Conference in San Francisco in 1945 .

Chatenet acted briefly as State Secretary to Prime Minister Michel Debré from January 8 to May 28, 1959. After that he was Interior Minister for two years from May 1959 to May 1961. Since his health was badly damaged, he was held in this office by Roger Frey replaced. From 1962 to 1967 he was President of the European Atomic Energy Community (EURATOM). From 1968 to 1977 he was a member of the Conseil constitutionnel (constitutional court).
