Jean Berthoin

Jean Berthoin , real name Yves Jean Marie Pierre Berthoin (born January 12, 1895 in Enghien-les-Bains ( Département Seine-et-Oise ), † February 25, 1979 in Paris ) was a French politician .

Life

Berthoin was appointed Prefect of the Haute-Garonne region on February 3, 1934 . He was appointed State Secretary and Director of Personnel and General Administration in the Interior Ministry on April 20, 1938 .

From 1948 to 1958 he sat in the National Assembly for the Isère region. He was State Secretary for the Interior from July 2 to 12, 1950. He was the last Minister of Education of the Fourth and first of the Fifth French Republic . He held this office from June 19, 1954 to February 1, 1956 and from June 1, 1958 to January 8, 1959. In 1958 he chaired the 10th session as chairman of the General Conference of UNESCO . He was then Minister of the Interior until May 28, 1959 .
