Franco Maria Malfatti

Franco Maria Malfatti (born June 13, 1927 in Rome , † December 10, 1991 ibid) was an Italian politician . The Christian Democrat was from 1970 to 1972 the second President of the (merged) Commission of the European Communities or the European Union (European Commission). See also the Malfatti Commission .

He then served as Minister of Finance (1978–79), Public Education, Industry, Government Professions, and Post and Telecommunications and Foreign Affairs (1979–80) for the Italian Government. In the 1980s he was chairman of the Italian delegation to the European Parliament . His family donated his extensive library to the University of Perugia .
