Adone Zoli

Adone Zoli (born December 16, 1887 in Cesena , † February 20, 1960 in Rome ) was an Italian politician . He was Italian Prime Minister from May 19, 1957 to June 19, 1958 .

Zoli studied law at the University of Bologna and then became a lawyer. In 1919 he joined the Catholic PPI of Luigi Sturzo one. There he represented anti-fascist views. In 1926 the PPI was banned. After the fall of Mussolini on July 25, 1943, Zoli was a member of the Florence Liberation Council . He was a founding member of the Democrazia Cristiana founded on December 15, 1943 .

In the parliamentary elections on April 18, 1948 , Zoli was elected to the Senate. From March 1950 to July 1951 Zoli was one of the five Vice-Presidents of the Senate, between July 26, 1951 and July 7, 1953 Minister of Justice and from January 18, 1954 to February 10, 1954 he was Italy's Minister of Finance . After Alcide de Gasperi's death , Zoli became chairman of the Chamber of Deputies. From February 19, 1956 to July 1, 1958, he was Minister of the Budget (Ministro del bilancio). On May 19, 1957, he also became Prime Minister (→ Zoli cabinet , his predecessor was Antonio Segni ).

In the general election on May 25, 1958 , the DC received 42.36 percent of the vote.
