Roberto Castelli
Roberto Castelli (born July 12, 1946 in Lecco ) is an Italian politician of the Lega Nord .
Life
Castelli studied engineering at the Milan Polytechnic and has been a member of Lega Nord since 1986 . In 1992 he was able to move into the Camera dei Deputati as a member of the Parliament , of which he was a member until May 1996. Since May 1996 he has been a senator in the Senato della Repubblica . As the successor to Piero Fassino , he was Minister of Justice in Italy from June 11, 2001 to May 17, 2006 in Silvio Berlusconi's government cabinet . He was succeeded in office as Minister of Justice Clemente Mastella . As Minister of Justice in 2005, he pushed through a highly controversial judicial reform. He prevented a pardon for the Italian journalist Adriano Sofri during his tenure as Minister of Justice.
