Fernando Tambroni
Fernando Tambroni-Armaroli (born November 25, 1901 in Ascoli Piceno , † February 18, 1963 in Rome ) was an Italian politician . He was Italian Prime Minister from March 25, 1960 to July 26, 1960 .
Political career
Tambroni, from 1948 member of the Chamber of Deputies for the Democrazia Cristiana , was Minister of the Merchant Navy from 1953 to 1954, as well as Minister of the Interior of the country several times (from 1955). Under Antonio Segni he became Minister of Treasury and Budget. His politics can be described as right-wing, as he was elected Prime Minister in March 1960 after breaking with the Socialist Party and with the support of the post-fascist MSI . Tambroni's reign saw the violent dissolution of a communist demonstration and the censorship of various films, including Federico Fellini's La Dolce Vita .
Tambroni's most controversial decision is the permission for the MSI to hold its national congress in the former stronghold of the Italian resistance against fascism, Genoa . On June 30, 1960, there were demonstrations by left-wing trade unions in various Italian cities (Genoa, Rome, Catania and Licata ), which were violently ended by the police, with even deaths. Tambroni was then asked to resign, including from his own party.
