Albert Borschette (born June 14, 1920 in Diekirch , † December 8, 1976 in Brussels ) was a Luxembourgish writer, politician and EC commissioner.

From 1958 to 1970 he was the permanent representative of Luxembourg to the European Communities in Brussels .

In 1970 he became European Commissioner for Regional Policy , Competition and Budget in the Franco Maria Malfatti and Sicco Mansholt Commissions .

After 1973 he was only responsible for competition in the Francois-Xavier Ortoli commission . He stayed that way until 1976, when he died that same year. So far he was the only member of the European Commission against whom impeachment proceedings had to be carried out, but not because of a misconduct, but because as a (initially) coma patient, he no longer met the requirements for the office, but could not (no longer) resign .
