HyperSonic XLC in Kings Dominion ( Doswell , Virginia , USA ) was a steel roller coaster from the Air Launch model by the manufacturer S&S Power , which opened on March 24, 2001 in what was then Paramount's Kings Dominion . In 2007 the railway was closed.
It was the first roller coaster of this type and together with Dodonpa in Fuji-Q Highland it was one of the only two roller coasters of this type in the world.
HyperSonic XLC used compressed air as an acceleration system to accelerate the train from 0 to 129 km / h in 1.8 seconds. Forces of 2 G occurred. Because of this extreme acceleration, the abbreviation XLC was added, which is the abbreviation for Xtreme Launch Coaster (in German: Extreme launch roller coaster ).
journey
After the launch, the train shot vertically up a 50 m high tower and crossed it so that it drove vertically towards earth again. After a large left turn and a slight right turn, the pneumatic brakes applied to slow the train down from the high speed.
Trains
HyperSonic XLCs trains had four cars each. Two people (a row of two people) could sit in each car. The passengers had to be at least 1.37 m tall to be allowed to ride.
