Fuji-Q Highland ( Japanese 富士急 ハ イ ラ ン ド , Fujikyū Hairando ), more rarely Fujikyū Highland , is an amusement park in Fujiyoshida , Yamanashi Prefecture , Japan . He belongs to the group of companies of the railway company Fuji Kyūkō , short Fujikyū.

The amusement park is located at the northern foot of Mount Fuji . It has, among other things, several world-famous roller coasters and Thomas Land , a children's amusement area with a Thomas & Friends theme.

Major roller coasters

Some of the roller coasters broke new ground at the time of their commissioning:

  • Fujiyama , opened in 1996, height 79 m, top speed 130 km / h; At the time of opening, Fujiyama was the world's highest roller coaster. It was replaced by the Millennium Force roller coaster in Cedar Point , Ohio, USA in 2000 .
  • Dodonpa , opened in 2001, height 52 m, top speed 172 km / h; Dodonpa has a pneumatic launch system that accelerates the roller coaster cars to 172 km / h in 1.8 seconds. The Fuji-Q Highland lies on a plain at the foot of Mount Fuji . The surrounding cities are known for their touristic location on five lakes , the view of Mount Fuji and the proximity to hiking areas.

getting there

The Fuji-Q Highland has its own Fuji-Q Highland station on the Fujikyūkō line from Ōtsuki to Fujikawaguchiko . There are several buses that run to Fuji-Q Highland from Tokyo , Shinjuku , Yokohama, and Omiya train stations every day . There is also a large car park at the main entrance to the Fuji-Q Highlands.
