Volcano, The Blast Coaster in Kings Dominion ( Doswell , Virginia , USA ) was a roller coaster on the model Suspended Catapult Coaster the manufacturer Intamin that on 3 August 1998 in the former Paramount's Kings Dominion opened.

It was the first inverted coaster with launch and has been the only suspended catapult coaster to date .

The mountain in and around which the railway was built had been in existence since 1979. Before Volcano was built, it housed a number of attractions.

At the beginning of 2019, the mountain and the railway were dismantled.

journey

The train was accelerated to around 113 km / h by means of two horizontal LIM acceleration sections and then shot vertically out of the 47 m high artificial volcano, followed by a so-called roll-out. The further course of the journey included three heartline rolls and a few curves around the outside of the volcano.

Trains

Volcano, The Blast Coaster had three trains with four cars each. Four people (two rows of two people) could sit in each car. The passengers had to be at least 1.37 m tall to be allowed to ride. Shoulder straps were used as a restraint system.
