Raphaela Piehler

Raphaela Piehler (born January 27, 1988 ) is a German swimmer and has a twin sister. She is currently (2007) the reigning German champion over 200 m back and German vice champion over 100 back. She lives in Ingolstadt and starts for the SC Delphin Ingolstadt under her trainer Steffen Pietsch, the father of the swimmer Janine Pietsch .

At the 119th German Swimming Championships (April 11-15, 2007 in Berlin ) she achieved the gold medal over 200 m back in 2: 14.75 minutes ahead of Janine Sauerteig ( Erfurt SSC), who needed 2: 16.25 minutes . Here she improved her personal best by 1.75 seconds. On the 100 m back course she was second with 1: 02.80 minutes, just under a second behind Daniela Samulski ( SG Bayer Wuppertal / Uerdingen / Dormagen ). Over 50 m back she finished fifth with 0: 30.11 minutes.

At the 118th German Swimming Championships (June 20-25, 2006 in Berlin) she achieved a bronze medal over 100 m back in 1: 03.38 minutes and a fifth place over 200 m back. In addition, she achieved two fourth places over 100 m and 200 m back at the German Short Course Championships 2005 in Essen and a fifth place over 100 m back at the German Championships 2005 in Berlin. With the team of SC Delphin Ingolstadt, together with Janine Pietsch, Michaela Baumgartner and Carolin Braun, she set a new German relay record over 4 × 100 m back at the Bavarian Relay Championships 2006 in Riemerling in 4: 14.45 minutes.

Since 2006 she has been sponsored by the German Swimming Association in the DSV association team. In the election for Ingolstadt Youth Athlete of the Year 2006, she came in third place. Piehler trains at least four times a week for a total of 16 to 20 hours a week and swims between nine and eleven kilometers a day. Since January 2009 she has been a trained office communication clerk and works at BFFT.
