Albaxen is a north-eastern district of Höxter in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Höxter . The place is located on the federal highways B 64 and B 83 on the left bank of the Weser , near the municipal and state border to Holzminden in Lower Saxony . The village is 110 m above sea level. NN . To the east and west, Albaxen is surrounded by the wooded ridges of the Weserbergland .
history
Albaxen was mentioned in documents as Albaxen when the neighboring Corvey Abbey was founded in 822, and was named Albaxen around 900. The Albax parish church is mentioned in a document as early as the 9th century. The Tonenburg bei Albaxen was built in 1315 by the Corvey Abbey . In the southern vicinity of the Tonenburg estate, in Höxter-Nachtigall, lignite was mined underground from 1795 to 1923 with the Nachtigall lignite mine. The mine belonged to the Ronnenberg alkali works.
Until the reorganization of the Höxter district on January 1, 1970, Albaxen belonged to the Höxter-Land office .

In 1895 Johann Buch founded a field fire bricks , which in 1903 was registered as a company in the commercial register. Since 1995, today's Ziegelwerk Buch GmbH & Co. KG , with managing director Robert Buch , has belonged to the UNIPOR group . UNIPOR is an amalgamation of independent brick and tile companies that jointly conduct research and development. On August 8, 2011, the Buch brickworks filed for bankruptcy.
In 1948 Konrad Reitz founded a company for the production of large fans in the town . Today's Konrad Reitz Ventilatoren GmbH & Co KG is the largest employer in Albaxen and employs around 400 people. It also includes the wholly-owned subsidiary Stäfa Wirz Ventilator AG in Bern, Switzerland.

Albaxen is (Hansa road) near the Tonenburg across national road 946 with the immediately adjacent Federal Straße 64 / 83 , respectively. In a westerly direction, the L 946 (Schwalenberger Straße) leads via Bödexen and Fürstenau to the federal highway 239 . In addition, the Weser cycle path runs through the town below the Tonenburg.
