Unipor Brick Group

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Unipor-Ziegel-Gruppe is an association of medium-sized brick companies in Germany . The head office and branch are in Munich . In 2018, the association had a total of nine member plants with 13 production sites across Germany. These are located in Bavaria , Hesse , Baden-Württemberg and North Rhine-Westphalia . In 2018, the Unipor Brick Group generated sales of around 110 million euros and sold 584 million normal format units of masonry bricks.

The Unipor brick group focuses on research and development in the field of masonry solutions. The resulting products are registered under the brand name Unipor . In addition to backing bricks , additional brick system products are also offered.

history

In 1976 the Unipor brick group was founded. Castulus Bader was in charge . The engineer and owner of the Leipfinger-Bader brickworks as well as co-founder of the Kastulus-Bader Foundation then held the chairmanship of the association for 36 years.

At the time of its founding, the Unipor brick group comprised more than 40 medium-sized brick companies. In the founding statutes, they set themselves the common goal of developing ecological products. For example, the capillaries of clay blocks from the Unipor brand are created by adding natural sawdust.

In 1994 the Unipor-Ziegel-Gruppe won a legal dispute in the last instance before the Federal Court of Justice (BGH). An association to combat unfair competition had sued against the use of the Unipor advertising slogan “Building blocks for a healthy world”. This is misleading and represents an overly emotional approach to consumers. In the last instance, however, the BGH ruled in favor of the Unipor-Ziegel-Gruppe, which has consistently carried out the advertising message since then.

Technological developments

Since 2007, the member plants have been producing masonry bricks filled with insulation , which are sold under the name Unipor Coriso . A specially produced mineral wool is used as an insulating material for these backing bricks , which is compacted in the brick chambers using a self-developed vibration process in such a way that the wall building material achieves a higher level of sound and thermal insulation.

In 2015, the Unipor Group was the first manufacturer in Germany to bring a brick-wood hybrid building material onto the market. This bears the name Unipor Silvacor and is provided with a sustainable insulating material filling made of softwood fibers from Steico . The insulation material consists of FSC - certified softwood . It is filled into the brick by machine, analogous to the Coriso process, and provides additional sound and heat insulation .

The Unipor Group started a cooperation with the Technical University of Darmstadt in 2018 . Brickworks Leipfinger-Bader KG and Klinker- und Ziegelwerk Franz Wenzel GmbH & Co. KG play a key role in this. The subject of the joint research work is the development of a 3D printing process for masonry solutions.

Unipor architecture award

Between 1994 and 2009 the Unipor brick group awarded a nationwide architecture prize every two years. The Dortmund architect Eckhard Gerber received the last of these awards in 2009.
