Krishnammal Jagannathan (born June 16, 1926 ) is a social justice activist from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu .

She was born into a landless and casteless family. Together with her husband, Sankaralingam Jagannathan (1912 - 2013), she protested against social injustice all her life. The two are based on M. Gandhi . She works to improve the situation of the landless and poor and criticizes governments and large companies. In her younger years she was involved with her husband in the Indian independence movement . She was a close associate of Ghandi's confidante Vinoba Bhave .

Krishnammal Jagannathan has received numerous awards, including the 2008 Alternative Nobel Prize ( Right Livelihood Award ) together with her husband.
