Monika Düker (born April 23, 1963 in Höxter ) is a German politician from Alliance 90 / The Greens . since June 2, 2000 (i.e. since the 13th electoral period ) member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia and since May 2017, together with Arndt Klocke , chairman of the state parliament group. From 2010 to 2014, as state chairman, she formed the dual leadership of the Greens in North Rhine-Westphalia together with Sven Lehmann .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1982, she began studying law at the University of Göttingen in 1982/1983 . After dropping out, she studied social pedagogy at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences from 1983 to 1987. By profession she is a qualified social pedagogue (FH). Monika Düker is single.

She has been a member of the Greens since 1989 . From 1989 to 1999 she was a member of the city council of Düsseldorf , where she was mainly active in youth and social policy.

At the state party conference in June 2010, Düker was elected with 61.4 percent - alongside Sven Lehmann - as state chairman of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in North Rhine-Westphalia. Düker and Lehmann follow Daniela Schneckenburger and Arndt Klocke . At the state party conference in Siegburg in 2014, she no longer ran. Mona Neubaur was her successor .

MPs

As a research assistant, Düker was already active from 1996 to 1999 in the parliamentary group of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and from July 1, 1999 to May 31, 2000 as a government employee in the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing, Culture and Sport.

After the state elections in 2000 , she entered the state parliament at number 9 on her party's state reserve list. In the 14th electoral term she was a spokesperson and a full member of the parliamentary interior committee . She also performed this function in the Committee for Generations, Family and Integration, in the supervisory body in accordance with Section 23 of the Constitutional Protection Act of North Rhine-Westphalia and in the 'Parliamentary Working Group on Islam Dialogue'.

After the state elections in 2010 , Düker entered the state parliament for the third time via her party's reserve list position 7. In the 15th electoral term, Düker was chair of the Interior Committee. She was also a member of the Legal Committee and the Committee on Women, Equality and Emancipation.

Even after the early state elections on May 13, 2012 , she returned to the state parliament.

Düker was the refugee policy spokeswoman for the parliamentary group of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen for 16 years . In December 2016, she resigned from office to protest the deportation of Afghans whose asylum applications had been rejected.
